    I've ran 10% ethanol in every engine I've ever owned and it's literally never caused me any problems. Old timers will say it gunks up carburetors or it's bad on small engines and that's a load of crap. Your carburetors gunk up or your jets clog because you left gasoline in your mower all winter long. Run the fuel out before storing and these issues will disappear.

    Very useful information and formulas! I used the two formulas to calculate the LSA for an AMC 401 and 304, assuming the same set of heads would be used (2.025 intake valves) If I used the formulas correctly, with all variables being the same except for CID, then LSA is inversely impacted by CID. For the 401 I came up with an LSA of 100.82, so 101 and for the 304 it was 107.235, so 107. Does that seem correct?

    I'll try to be quick with my question: hypothetical motor, 1.94 intake valve, 350 Cid, 11 to 1 compression. I intend to use a 107 lsa, based on vizard formula, maybe 108. Question: should I try to keep the intake centerline around the 107-108 as well, or is it OK to advance the cam, based on overall duration, trying to keep dynamic compression around 8.3 to 1? Debating between running a smaller cam at 0 degrees, vs a larger cam at 4 degrees advance.

    The intake thing pissed me off too. Can you maybe help me figure why I can't powershift my 98gt after putting 4.30s in the rear? Lol. Now the belt tensioner shatters in a single pass.. with 3.27s it held up powershifts for years

    Chrysler's teams were DOOMED in the 1970s. After a great run in the 1960s the 70s would usher in a need for new light weight, fuel efficient cars. This created a real problem for teams like Sox and Martin. Chrysler was small compared to GM and Ford.....really small in terms of over all production and as result they couldn't afford mistakes made with early big bets on small cars. (It's worth pointing out that only GOOD THING history remembers of the Vega is the way the car so easily accommodated a small block Chevy because as a production car the Vega was a DISASTER for Chevy and General Motors). History is always 20/20 in hindsight but in the early 1970s it wasn't nearly as obvious how things would be going toward the end of the 1970s. Chrysler lacked the R&D budget and ability to take a risk so early to build a car like the Vega. As a result there was really no production car for Dodge and Plymouth racers to use other than those that had worked so well in 1960s. A combination of potent Hemi engines and intermediate size cars like the Barracuda were vulnerable to SBC power Vegas. Ford's Pinto and it's sister car the Mustang 2 don't get much play in this video but for Ford at least they did have cars that could fight against the Vega more effectively.

    Also manufacturers installed the vacuum advance to give lots of advance coming away from a stop sign because they're is very little air in the cylinder at that time. For a stock street vehicle ported vacuum seems to work the best.

    I actually had one of these in a 73 ranchero, it had a 4bolt main 351c top loader 4speed and a "N" iron 9" rear. I always thought that was a strange combination for a ranchero. The engine code was Q on the VIN

    I would like to interject here. Ford just came out with an updated intake, part number PU7Z-9424-A. They fixed absolutely everything wrong with the older design, by adding a reinforced metal rear heater hose nipple, and several other improvements. However, for some reason, Ford decided to pattern the runners and plenum after the Dorman intake. So, now it's just down to a matter of longevity; you're going to lose power, no matter what you do.

    I saw a podcast from former union works from Ford. The things they said got me upset. Unions don't care about quality, pride of being made in America. Union workers high and drunk on the job.
